Important Reads

Purpose and Processes Document was created to express the values, norms, and operating principles of the Health Improvement Collaborative of Southeastern Connecticut. In December we asked you to consider this document, ask questions, request edits, and provide feedback to the Coordinating Team.  We heard your feedback and the changes are being reflected in the new document. Attached is the latest version with the comments we have received incorporated. Next month we will be taking up its adoption.

Things To Do

1.  The Health Education team is searching for a new President. For information about The Health Education Center and a link to the position posting, go to Health Education Center (healtheducenter.org)

2.  Help us to meet the urgent need for food in our community. Every week on Wednesdays at the New London Senior Center, the HIC coordinates a one-day food pantry. Each week we distribute more than 10,000 pounds of food to nearly 200 families. And, we need your help! Please consider signing up to volunteer and/or organizing a team to spend part of the day in a great team-building activity. 3.  Did you know?: A community health worker is a member of a community who is chosen by community members and organizations to provide basic health and medical care within their community, and is capable of providing preventive, promotional and rehabilitation care to that community. Other terms for this type of health care provider include lay health worker, village health worker, community health aide, community health promoter, and health advisor. As a CHW your career will grow as the search for successful CHW's is up and running across the state and nation! To become a certified community health worker, register now for trainings at Health Education Center Classes (coursestorm.com)
